Should Liverpool Defender Joel Matip Play For The Lions Again?
According to reports, new Indomitable Lions Coach Rigobert Song and FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o Fils have set out on a mission to convince former Indomitable Lions defender Joel Matip to play for the Lions again. Rumours also states that Fécafoot President and the new coach are presently in Germany.
Rigobert Song is on a mission to strengthen his team. Remember the indomitable Lions will be facing Algeria on the 25th and 29th to qualify for the world cup. And it’s the duty for the coach to get things ready before that day. We have seen the energy the coach began his new position with. Hope it last till the end.
The Liverpool FC (England) defender played his last game for Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in 2014 at the Brazil World Cup. Since then the defender has not played for Cameroon again, after citing poor treatment from the coaching staff. He scored Cameroon’s only goal at that year’s World cup in a 1-4 loss to Brazil.
Many have questioned this move by the new coach to get Joel Matip into the Lion’s den. To some it’s of no importance. And to others Cameroonians should learn to move on and stop holding on past glories.
Some football fans see it as a waste couple with the fact that Joel Matip is in his 30s. And besides still the player had circumvented the country for a long time now. Besides Cameroon have young and agile players like Jean-Charles Castelletto.
