Some Cameroonian Artists That Have Dropped Out Of Record Labels To Start Theirs.
Starting a record label in Cameroon seems to be the easiest thing to do, Labels in Cameroon are not only owned by Music lovers and people who have decided to invest in the business but also artist also own labels.
Every day when you enter social media, you’ll have to stumble on a post or an announcement of a new label and most of these are created by artistes who were signed to a label and decided to leave after maybe dragging ropes with their label bosses.
We’ll have to take a brief walk on some Cameroonian artistes that left labels to start up theirs, check below…
1] Reniss
Reniss has been in New bell Music owned Ndukong Godlove known with stage name as jovi for years and under for years , Under NBM she released songs like ‘Dans La SAUCE‘ which was a hit. Few days ago she announced the creation of her own label ‘RINGA RECORDS‘, She has just released her first single under her record label HOT SPOT.
2] Kameni
kameni is not a new name in the Cameroon music industry, She was signed to Mr Leo`s label ‘LIONNS productions‘ in 2019 ,After releasing beautiful projects like ‘NAYO NAYO’ she parted ways with the label in 2022 and in March 2023 she announced the creation of her label ‘RUDE GYAL NATION‘ ,She has released a project BACK TO SENDER under her label and its moving well.
3] Ego & Prido
This upcoming music duo surprised the media with amazing freestyles, They got signed by ‘Ebeso Empire’ and later released an EP under the label. A week ago after making facebook posts calling out the label for not respecting their part of the contract they released a press released about the creation of their own label ‘ZANGA MUSIC‘, they are still to released a song under this label.
4] Shura
Shura was a ‘stevens music‘ artist for years and with the label she released her biggest award winning hit ‘ ‘ALLER DIRE‘, in 2021 she left Stevens music and created her own label SHURA MUSIC. Under her label she has released an EP ‘Primed‘ and some singles like. Mogu.
