Cameroon Loses Soccer WonderKid Kylian Mbappe To France

Kylian Mbappé is an 18-year-old soccer wonder kid whose father Wilfried is Cameroonian and mother is French. Mbappé has been described as a “huge football talent” who “has similarities to Thierry Henry” by Arsène Wenger. Several highly rated pundits have stated that the similarities between Mbappé and Henry make him one of the most exciting prospects in world football.

It will be a great loss for Cameroon, as Kylian Mbappe is set to play his first international match for France in Late March. His performances have attracted the attention of the leaders of the Fécafoot (Cameroon Football Federation) who already saw him as a future Lion. But minimizing the fact that French coach Didier Deschamps also has keen eyes for the kid which quickly embarked the young Cameroonian in the adventure of the Blues. The choice of the young player to defend the colors of France rather than those of Cameroon must push the first leaders of the Cameroon football with good managements of our teams. Amateurism and mediocrity do not attract. We need to think more about football players than about banknotes. That victory at CAN 2017 is not the tree that hides the forest. With the departure of Hayatou as President of CAF, Cameroon should put in more effort to build its football team and maintain their success.
