Nollywood Actor Sylvester Madu was released from police detention yesterday, November 29, 2023, in Bamenda, Cameroon, after being in police custody for four days.  The actor traveled to Cameroon a few days ago to play a pivotal role in the filming of the movie “ABAKWA,” a film that was to be filmed in Bamenda, located in the North West Region of the country. The show was canceled because the well-known Nollywood actor was involved in a sad incident that happened at a snack bar named Big G in Nkwen, Bamenda. Nine people were seriously hurt, and five people lost their lives. Sandra, an 18-year-old student who went with her pals to see the Nollywood celebrity in person, is one of the people who perished.

After spending four nights in police prison, Sylvester Madu was freed early on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, as confirmed by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam in an official statement after his appearance before the Bamenda military court. All of his personal belongings and documentation were given to him. It was also reported that multiple people are still being held in relation to the incident, and two crew members were urgently rushed to the hospital due to health issues.

In addition to taking part in the “Abakwa” movie shoot, Sylvester Madu traveled to Bamenda to promote drug abstinence. According to reports, he was also scheduled to meet with fans at Big G Snack Bar when the gunmen opened fire, leaving nine people injured and five people dead.

According to reports we got from Mimi Mefo Info, many people have linked the attack to drug dealers, believing that the “No to Drug” campaign threatened their lucrative business, while others contend that Ambazonia separatists planned the attack because they believed that social media hype surrounding the Nigerian actor’s appearance and the film’s filming would give the impression that things were normal in Bamenda. As of right now, eight people are being held by the police in relation to the incident.
