Libianca Beats Asake, Others To Win BET Award For “Best New International Act”

Cameroonian singer Libianca has emerged as the winner of the Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act category at the 2023 BET Awards. Libianca outlasted fierce opposition from well-known performers like Nigeria’s Asake, Ghana’s Camidoh, the UK’s Flo, France’s Maureen, Brazil’s MC Ryan SP, South Africa’s Pabi Cooper, the UK’s Raye, and France’s Werenoi.

Libianca’s highly successful hit track “PEOPLE” is Platinum in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. It is also Gold in USA, the UK, France and Denmark. “People” is unquestionably one of the best songs out there and has sold a number of units in the United States and the world at large. Libianca keeps breaking new boundaries and records. It is the first time a Cameroonian artist has bagged an award at the Prestigious BET Awards.

On the other hand, Libianca’s victory in the Best International New Act category at the BET Awards 2023 has ignited a wave of reactions across Nigerian social media platforms. With many social media netizens expressing their dissatisfaction and labeling it as “daylight robbery.”
