MINJEC: MINJEC set to recruit 1000 social media volunteers

This comes as a response to the end of year presidential speech.

The ministry of youth affairs and civic education (MINJEC) led by its minister Mounouna Foutsou, has announced that his ministry will be needing 1000 social media volunteers for a project at hand.

The stated project aims at promoting civic education, the fight against unfounded and fake news, the propagation of hate speech, and national integration. This statement was made by the Minister himself on January 16, 2023.

Based on this project, interested candidates must be 18 years and above must be Cameroonian, and must not be propagators of fake news and hate speech and amongst other criteria. Read the communication below

Mounouna Foutsou made it clear that the recruitment of the social media volunteers came as a direct reaction to the end-of-year speech made by the president of Cameroon his Excellency President Paul Biya on the 31st of December, 2022. In his traditional speech, he stressed incivility, moral dissipation, and the spread of fake news.
