Three Indomitable Lions nominated for CAF player of the year
These Cameroon strikers made the shortlist following their remarkable performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations early this year hosted by Cameroon.
Three Indomitable Lions have made it into the shortlist of nominations for the 2022 CAF Awards. The Confederation of African Football(CAF) on Thursday released the first list of nominees for the CAF Awards.
And three Cameroon Indomitable Lions have been nominated for the award of 2022 CAF award under the category Men’s player of the year. They include; Karl Toko-Ekambi, Vincent Aboubakar and Zambo Anguissa.
These Cameroon strikers made the shortlist following their remarkable performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations early this year hosted by Cameroon. Subsequently, they featured amongst the 30 players nominated for the Men’s player of the year. Also present on the list, are Senegal’s Sadio Mané, goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches and Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stage of the Interclub competitions.
The CAF Awards 2022 will be held prior to the final of Africa’s flagship women’s competition, the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations TotalEnergies Morocco 2022 scheduled for 02-23 July 2022. The event also coincides with the two-year anniversary of the launch of CAF’s strategy for women’s football.
The 2022 CAF Awards will be held on 21 July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.
