Kate Fotso, Cameroon's richest woman, supports the annual Bakweri cultural festival also known as Mbando with a huge sum of 20 million fcfa
Kate Fotso CEO of the leading cocoa beans exporting company in Cameroon TELCA COCOA and the richest woman in Cameroon has pledged to support the annual Bakweri cultural festival also known as Mbando with a huge sum of 20 million fcfa.
Auntie Kate who is also an indigene of the Bakweri land in Buea, made this donation of 20 million fcfa at a fundraising ceremony organized at the Paramount chief’s palace on Saturday the 4th of March, 2023. Kate Fotso in her speech which was heavily applauded, endorsed and pleaded with the Bakweri men to wake up from Laziness. The ceremony was also attended by some of the powerful elites of the Bakweri people amongst which was the Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga who is also a Bakweri native. She (The Minister of Secondary Education) pledged her full support for the upcoming festival.
According to HRH Robert Esuka Mbella Endeley, the Paramount ruler of Buea, the festival will serve as a platform to revamp the lost tradition of the Bakweri people and reunite them. “We want to change the image attributed to the Fako Chiefs as the greatest seller of land… We believe in the dream of the Mokpe man…,” Said HRH Robert Esuka Mbella Endeley. The organization of this upcoming cultural festival shall be embodied with several projects such as the construction of the Baweri museum which will serve as a cultural center with a library and a multipurpose hall.
