Meet 80-Year-Old Vietnamese Thai Ngoc, Who Hasn’t Slept in Over 60 Years
Despite not sleeping for over half a century, Thai Ngoc appears to be in good health and continues to work on his family farm.
A YouTube video about a Vietnamese man claiming to have not slept since 1962 has taken the internet by storm. Thai Ngoc, a chronic insomniac from the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam, is regarded as a “mutant” because he hasn’t slept in more than 62 years, but his body is still in excellent physical and mental condition. Many scientists have yet to come up with a viable explanation for this odd phenomenon.
Thai Ngoc, claims that several decades ago, he caught a fever as a child after which he could never sleep again. The 80-year-old’s condition is known as insomnia. Insomnia and sleepless nights can hurt a person’s physical and mental health. But it doesn’t seem to affect Ngoc’s health in any way.
Media reports suggest that Ngoc’s family, including his wife, children, friends and neighbours have never seen him sleep.
