Joel Embiid becomes 2nd African to Win the Prestigious NBA MVP Award
Cameroonian Joel Embiid is the second African-born player to win MVP, joining Hall of Famer Olajuwon, the 1984 MVP
Pro Basketball player Joel Embiid makes history as he becomes the first African player since Hakeem Olajuwon to win an NBA MVP title.
The Cameroonian born is averaging the league-best 33.1 points per game, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game and leading his team, the Philadelphia 76ers to the No. 3 position in the Eastern Conference.
This win is a breakthrough for the Yaounde native as he has previously missed this title for the past three seasons and has always been inside the top three. Lost twice to Denver Nuggets Star Nikola Joki? as they both became rivalry in the sport.
Joel Embiid has now joined legends Wilt Chamberlain (Who has Won NBA MVP three times), Julius Erving (1981), Moses Malone (1983), and Allen Iverson (2001) as the fifth player in Philadelphia 76ers history to win the prestigious title.
The 2022 – 2023 MVP still remains a brilliant player in his prime and there is a high probability that he might win two years in a row because his comebacks and resilience to the sport have always been one of his strongest feats. Hopefully his team; the Philadelphia 76ers advance to the NBA finals and he wins the Finals MVP which some people consider greater than the league’s MVP.
