The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have sailed through successfully to the FIFA World Cup 2022. Cameroon pulled off an extraordinary 2-1 victory in Algeria after extra time to end 2-2 on aggregate and advance on the away goals rule.
The game which took place at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida – Algeria saw two good teams struggling for a spot in Qatar. The Desert Foxes dominated throughout the game and already dreamt of a spot. Not forgetting their 1-0 victory in Cameroon during the first leg.
Nevertheless, the miracle happened in a dead ball situation. A midfield foul allowed Cameroon to send a crass ball into the box. And Karl Toko Ekambi scored a 124th-minute sensational goal. Booking Cameroon a spot at the World Cup in Qatar.
Even though, Toko Ekambi and Eric Maxim Chopo-Mouting got almost all the highlights yesterday, Indomitable Lion’s goal-keeper Andre Onana was one of the most crucial players in the second leg against Algeria. Not forgetting the “Dependable” Fai Collins.
The five-time African Champions therefore qualify for their 8th World Cup tournament. And will be joining 31 other nations in Qatar later this year.
