Cameroon Doesn’t Have A Music Industry – Kameni Tells It All In New Interview
During the Ballantine’s and Boiler Room conversation yesterday, Dancehall artist Kameni revealed on stage that “Cameroon Doesn’t Have A Music Industry.”
Speaking with Boiler Room/Ballantine Kameni, Mani Bella and Happy d’Effoulan gave their thoughts on a talk about the evolution of the Cameroon music. The event took place in Yaoundé, 3rd May 2022 as from 8 pm. And was marked by various activities and lots of entertainment.
What stroke many was Kameni’s opinion on the subject matter. According to the Dancehall artist, Cameroon does not have a music industry. To Kameni, a music industry should contains a team and not a group. Kameni went further to explain that what we call an industry is a group of jealous, disunity people making it not fit to be called a “music industry”.
So therefore, the term “music industry” should be taken out from the Cameroon entertainment sector. She also wished we had a body to put the sector in place. As a lot of bodies like SONACAM and the Ministry of Culture are not doing their job.
