President Paul Biya appoints Joseph Dion Ngute as the New Prime Minister of Cameroon

 Joseph Dion Ngute: Personal Profile

The new PM was born on 12th  March 1954 in Bongongo, Barombi, in the Ndian Division, South West Region.

Between 1966 and 1971: GCE Advanced Level at the Government Bilingual High School, Buea

From 1973 – 1977 the boy from the South West obtained a Bachelor of Sciences in Law at the University of Yaounde II.

He later obtained a Master’s Degree in Law at the London University of the Queen of Mary College (1977–1988).

Dr. Dion Ngute later obtained a Ph.D. in law from Warwick University, England

He has written and published many articles on law and public administration.

Professional Background

Mr. Dion Ngute became a course instructor at the University of Yaounde II in the 1980s.

On 19th June 1986, Joseph Dion Ngute was appointed Deputy Director General of the Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM.

Five years later, that is in 1991 he became the Director General of ENAM.

Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute became Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in Charge of Relations with the Commonwealth.

He occupied the position till 2nd March 2018 when he was appointed by a Presidential Decree as the Minister in Charge of Special Duties at the Presidency.

The man of law and the diplomat also represents Cameroon at the Human Rights Council in Geneva as well as the Africa Commission for the People’s Rights in Banjul in the Gambia.

He is also a member of the United Nations-sponsored Cameroon-Nigeria mixed commission.

He participated in the negotiations leading to the implementation of the International Criminal Court on the boundary dispute between Cameroon and Nigeria of 10th October 2002.

The university professor also led the Cameroonian delegation to negotiations that led to the creation of the African Union from the erstwhile O.A.U.

He is also the Cameroonian lead negotiator within the Gulf of Guinea Commission.

He is the chief of Bobongo village in Ekondo Titi subdivision.

Chief Dr. Dion Ngute is also a holder of many awards from various orders in Cameroon.

Politically, he is a member of the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) Party.
