Alot of Cameroonian female artists are changing the narratives of women in the music industry in Cameroon. The music industry as we know it is highly dominated by male artistes. However, the ladies in the music industry in Cameroon have done amazingly well, proving their worth over and over. In 2021, 237 ladies stepped forward to prove that they can achieve much more than what the men can. We have carefully selected a list of Cameroonian female artists who continue to fight day and night to have their names in the charts, as they entertain us with great music.

Below are Top 10 Female Cameroonian Artists that gave us remarkable vibes in 2021.

1) MIMIE

Mimie

Melanie Ngoga known as Mimie in her music life is among the biggest female act in Cameroon right now. Mimie wears many hats in the entertainment industry and aside from being a singer, she’s also a very talented actress. She has been nominated and subsequently won female act of 2021 in various Music Awards. She has been commanding the airwaves with her 2021 hit song Faya”  featuring Locko.

2) BLANCHE BAILLY

Blanche Bailly

Blanche Bailly is one of the few Cameroonian ladies you cannot go without mentioning when talking women and music. The confirmed Queen Mimba experimented in 2021 and came out victorious. Blanche Bailly has continued to extend her wings to other parts of Africa. This year she has blessed us with songs like DouDou”, “Jaloux”  and Dégage.

3) KAMENI

Kameni has succeeded in getting her name high up the chat with her prowess in doing what she does best. The Lion Production Singer Kameni has seen a quick rise to standard.  She has made her present felt by winning awards and shutting down shows even in Dubai. The songstress has gotten better and better with more thrilling music for her fans. She has been on the airwaves with songs like Them”, “Bolo” and “Tombé” among other collabos with notable names in the Cameroon music industry.

4) VERNYUY TINA

Vernyuy Tina

Vernyuy Tina, arguably the Queen of AfroNjang,  blends traditional instrumentals with other genres (Jazz, Folklore, Rap, Country…etc). You are more likely to notice her presence on a record from her fondness for using catchy phrases in her lyrics.  Tina has that special talent to make her songs last longer on your music playlist. She has successfully built a solid fan base “Tination” who have proven to stand by her on many occasions. This year she delivered songs like; “Ndani Ya”, “Popote”, ”Silver” and others. And can’t go away without talking about her simplicity and love for the  African  culture! It is extremely difficult to categorize Tina’s genre because she is so damn multi-talented and makes music across the border.

5) RINYU

Akumba music Songstress has kept her star shining since her debut in 2019. In an industry where women have to present themselves a sexual fantasy to be successful, Rinyu has proved that one doesn’t have to bare it all just to be accepted. Her uniqueness and decency is what most of her fans love about her. Rinyu has been is topping major streaming platforms like Boom play and a host of others. She’s been nominated for several awards as and can bet you this 2022 she will bring home awards. Her 17 track debut album “Black Girl Magic” was a massive success with almost a million streams on BoomPlay. In 2021, she has blessed us with a lot of songs, most favourite been; “CONTROLLER”.

Singer /Actress Lydol has also proven to be  one amazingly talented person. Lydol is an artist who describes herself and her sound as an eclectic blend of bold, yet sexy lyricism and longing vulnerable melodies. Her single “Bango Bangofeaturing  Aveiro Djess has been a huge success with more than a million views on YouTube. The queen has bagged numerous of nominations since her arrival into the music industry.

7) ASABA

Asaba

Through her vulnerable songwriting and dreamy, soulful vocals, she’s finally finding her place – and herself – through music. Though underrated, Asaba continues to stretch herself and prove her versatility to us. Good music is always entertaining and calms the soul at the same time. That’s what Asaba’s music does. Her consistency has kept her on track, dropping songs back to back. This year she dropped songs like “Dix Ans”, “Dodokido” and “Mon Bebe

8) COCO ARGENTÉE

Coco Argentée, has been in the music business, particularly in the Bikutsi and Pop genre since 2010. With powerful singles and albums the Bikutsi crooner has built a solid career. And in 2020 she featured on Ko-c’s hit song “Caléçon”, which topped the music charts in Cameroon and other central African countries. The song is currently at 13 million YouTube views. And in 2021, she didn’t stop there, as she blessed her fans with another hit, “Je me sens”. Her huge fan base has helped so much in solidifying her career. There’s no doubt Coco Argentee isn’t among one of the most loved Cameroon artist.

9) ASKIA

Askia

“How will this article be if Askia’s name isn’t included?” Askia has continually made her mark as one of the very best in the league of Cameroonian female rappers. Though a difficult year for her, she made sure she kept her fans with something to feed on. The award-winning rapper has proven how strong the female gender can be. Askia went a long way as she was nominated for the prestigious AFRIMA Award.

10) INDIRA

Indira

Indira is a young dynamic multi-talented Gospel artist. Her youthfulness is a plus for her, as she has paved her way to the hearts of the masses. Indira was nominated for various awards, and even took back some home. This year, the award-winning  Gospel artist has dropped a sing titled “Je Laisse Tout à Dieu”. This song like many of her songs have surpassed more than 3 million views on Youtube.
