Here Are the Reasons Why Pascal’s – Devil Ney Di Really Sleep Is Not a Diss Track to Jovi

Arguably One of Cameroon’s best lyricist, rapper Pascal released what most Cameroonians will consider as ice-cold diss track to veteran lyricist and his rap mentor Jovi last night shocking fans of the pair. But Is this really the Case? The song, titled “Devil Ney Di Really Sleep,” is a response to Jovi’s tweet that started after his successful two state Concert with Johnny Walker. But Is this really a Diss Track, Apology, “Bromance” or Homage?

As active as he is on twitter Jovi didn’t take kindly to Pascal’s unsolicited indirect diss to him in his Last EP – Pikin 4 SUN. In the track – Follow The Light,

Pascal Raps

I Try TO Jingle Like a Bell
I try to fly but I Fell
I NO Go Lie bro I Fail

But thanks for the credit you ever gave me But
Imma take it from Here

Note Jovi has always credited Pascal as his best Rapper in Cameroon and that he was proud of him.

But surprisingly Pascal claimed in his EP that Jovi tried to Bury him. We still need to find out what he meant by ” But Big Bro Tryin to Bury me”. From Findings Jovi had never really wanted Pascal to leave New Bell Music, He admired his art and thus the name Yung King, implying that Pascal May be there to back him up or follow his foot steps. But Maybe Pascal had better offers out of New Bell music and left the record Label in an amicable way.  We don’t remember Jovi Dissing Pascal for living New Bell Music Until He made this statement in his song.

Well, It seems like Jovi has been getting backlash over the years from many critics and fellow artists who have always doubted his success. But he recently shunt them down by doing one of the biggest concerts ever held in Cameroon alongside Nigerian Superstar – Tekno in two of Cameroon’s top Cities Douala and Yaounde respectively. Even Before that His fourth Album – GOD DON KAM received critical review and amassed huge sales Proofing to his “So called Enemies” that he is still Camer’s King of Rap in Sales and Income.
Well Let’s get back to the subject proper – Pascal Vs Jovi  – ‘Right”. So Jovi responded with Twitter recently that he influenced Pascal’s rap style which may be true (According to Pascal) because the latter accepted it.

Check the Tweet screenshots below

Jovi Tweet Pascal 1

Pascal maybe tired of the recent attack from his mentor wasted no time. He hit the lab, and last night dropped a supposed “diss track” to Jovi talking about Jovi’s continuous tweets, the difficulty he (Pascal) faced feeding himself and his family and the mistakes he made about Jovi. Download and Check Out the Lyrics to – Devil Ney Di Really Sleep Below.

Now Lets break it down in our way, Rapgenius Way

He starts with the lines ”

(A)

Devil Ney Di Sleep Even For Night Dem Get For Tweet
If God Get for Teach, Even For Night No Be For Tweet”

Here Pascal is indirectly advising his mentor Jovi to stay off twitter if He wanna be a better Rap Teacher (Jovi Credit Number I) for this industry. Yeah thats a good advice from Pascal.

Secondly

(B)

I Swear E Hard for Me For Sleep
But Why My Mentor (ooh)
Don Di Act Like Chick

Pascal says its hard for him to sleep, Yes that is true because Jovi keep and repeatedly mentioned him directly or indirectly in his recent tweets. Though Pascal is willing to let it slight but its difficult for him to sleep with all those tweet noise (LOL), How smart is that.

Again He acknowledges Jovi as his Mentor (Jovi Credit Number II) though still saying His Mentor now acts like a girl (Who talks too much). Well, I don’t agree with that because Jovi’s active twitter has pulled many Cameroonians to understand and enjoy this Social Media platform. We all know girls talk more physically that typing on keyboards. We Seldom say Jovi doing live videos talking negativity, so tweeting doesn’t make him a chick since its his own medium of self expression. Not forgetting that Jovi used this same twitter to endorse Pascal, Mr. Leo, Salatiel and some other industry figures.

Again,

(C)
If i Get some Problem with some person wey Na Serious Case
I Go Shuddong Di Tweet Na Tweet
Say Na Craze I DI Craze

As one of the largest social networks on the Internet, Twitter’s potential for expanding your business or website’s audience is hard to deny. It is easy to get started tweeting to promote your work or share your ideas and thoughts about things. Yeah Jovi can express himself in any form on twitter. Pascal does same … so

Next Pascal raps

(D)

Me and My Men Dem We Di Pull Up for that Nigga Yi Place
Gang Gang — Bang Bang For Dat Nigga Yi Face

Either Pascal maybe indirectly threatening to attack his mentor alongside his goons physically or he is advising Jovi to do it the old fashion way rather than tweeting. We all know the history of Beef (Pac-Biggie-etc) is Pascal encouraging Jovi to be violent than tweeting? Or does Pascal has street goons that can actually inflict physical pains on Jovi. Naaah I don’t think So … Y’all Know MbokoGang… LOL anyways Pascal should not be encouraging violence.

He Continues

(E)

All Dat I Hear Say Yi Talk Say
Na kongossa Talk
If You Hear Say I talk Say wey Na Dat Kind Talk
Wey Na Some Chi Say I Talk Say
Then Quote Yi Own Talk

From some of Jovi’s tweets he claims Pascal sidelined with some of his haters and talked trash about him. Well Pascal may have accepted that he said “Some things” about his mentor Jovi but it was misquoted by “Word of Mouth“. Yeah that may be true, people always try to ruin good relationships and this is always the case for this type of relationship. People are killing it for them .. LOL … Chaii Cameroonians with Kongossa. Pascal is still trying to tell his mentor that he may have gotten the wrong stories (Kinda of an apology to Jovi)

Furthermore Pascal Raps

(F)

U Get for Tap Me Like Your Peri Frere Then Give me Some Kong
Den Put me for down
Torri Me na Man To Man

Haha, Is Pascal Ironic, or just confusing us with his smart words. Previously he may have said it may be a misquote and now boldly says Jovi should have called him like a Junior brother and discipline him with a crack on his head (LOL) and then seats him down and talk to him man – to – Man. Yeah good advice from Pascal to Jovi, but does he indirectly acknowledges that he has disrespected his Mentor Jovi. Yup, that is what he meant.

Again,

(G)

Correct Beef No be for tweeter
Grand na Hand to Hand
I No First Like Me Beef E make AM dem Kill Some my Big Yi Peri
The Only Beef Wey I di Lick am e dey na for briqueterie

Pascal still insist Jovi should stay off twitter and take it physical to his enemies. Remember he said same thing in part (D) above he insisted Jovi goes Hand to Hand with his so-called Enemies. Well, we don’t think so, we enjoy beef with words rather than brawl, We don’t encourage violence. Question, Can Pascal do what he says, then those who claimed this song – Devil Ney Di Really Sleep is a diss track should be ready to see Pascal face off with Jovi in a real round fight bout. The Gentle Pascal we all know will not do this.

Pascal continued that he doesn’t like rap beef and that he lost some one in a past beef. But Yet some of Us claim this is beef song, if so that its the second beef song aimed indirectly to Jovi. First was Follow the Light and Now this. Is Pascal a Liar? Yes He may be. It seems he actually enjoys it

Continuously

(H)

Tata Na My Brother since before the Music
How U wan Mash My Name for take am push tata Yi Music
Check Say Mukalah shine today na me go suffer
If I shine I go turn My back against My brother

Well, Tata is one of the only artist that have remained loyal to Jovi and his New Bell Music and some of Jovi’s tweets “MAY” claim Tata is a better rap to Pascal. Pascal says Tata is his brother even before the music… Yes that may be true. He also says Jovi wanna use his name to hype Tata’s upcoming project, which may also be true. That is Business, but words will remain the same, JOVI has always credited Pascal as one of his best rapper so crediting Pascal’s friend (Tata) as a good rapper too shouldn’t be a problem. We all know music industry Hype if that is the case then its even more credit on Pascal.

Pascal go on and claims he doesn’t have a problem for Tata to breakthrough and shine because he gonna enjoy his success since He is still his brother. Now this is Deep, brotherly love (No Homo)

Pascal Goes On,

(I)

Fuck Social media Grand
You Be my Grand
But Peri Frere Dem Too di Look me Like Grand
So If them Make Mistake Na So I get for Correct them
I Ney di see this one like some plan

Pascal is such a smart ass, He still insists Jovi to be his elder brother in the music industry beyond just the mere social Media (Jovi Credit Number III). But says since Jovi is his elder, he too is grown up and have other rappers that look unto him like an elder too. That is so totally true, though he may not be financially successful rapper he definitely has gained a lot of respect from aspiring rappers.

He is not a kid from New Bell Music anymore, With over 30.000 Social Media followers Pascal is one of the most popular and arguably feared rapper in “Rio Dos Camoros“. Yup, Argue with your ancestors. The best (Jovi) called Him (Pascal) His Best and that still counts. His lyrics are impressive, His punchlines are perplex, his person is awesome. Yup, Jovi Should know that.

He goes on to say he will correct any rapper he is grooming in the same way he advice Jovi. Well, lets Hope for that.

He continues

(J)

Dis one na real life no b na Hype
I Dey Douala Narrowly try to survive
My Njaka Dey Abakwa Small time e go turn b na Five
When I di Check Sense for Here, Knack Head for dat side
I doubt if reppe Yi Salaire Di Pass, E Don Bad for dat Side
I wonder how my whole Famil di Even Chop for that side
ALl Man dey Indoors like rat di fear for go for outside
When I di talk for God for here I ney di forget that side

This part is long, deep, emotional  and real. This is not the first time the former New Bell Music and Strange King rapper has acknowledge that he has been facing serious hardships in Douala. He claims, he just try to survive in Douala, Yup life may have been very hard on Pascal. Though he has a fair contract and a short stay at Strange Kings, furnished apartment, car etc. Because of one reason or another he left strange Kings and faced tough times in Douala.

He also tell us that he has a four year old daughter in Bamenda and that all the money he works here in Douala, he sends it back home to crises plagued Bamenda where majority of his family still lives in insecurity, fear and hardship due to the ongoing Anglophone Crises.
This is an emotional part from the yung King. From our interpretation Pascal may be indirectly passing a message to Jovi telling him about his difficulties and his family situation back in Bamenda. Is this sincere for pity or Just normal words.

The Next Part

(K)

U Di Feel Me Ehh
Man Di Dey na Level for Malla
When U Di malla Ya Malla, Den U Spit for My Malla
Try for check My whole fami wey dem di wait na my malla for malla
Before Palla Palla Enter, then Thing Dem Chakara

Pascal tells Jovi that they (entertainers including him and Jovi) are all here to work and eat the success of their music as a profession and that when Jovi gets his fair share, He (Jovi) spits in his own share, He has a family back in Bamenda that waits and depends on what he makes from music. Hmmmm … this is tricky and packed with so much sense, let’s try to understand together. Yeah as professional musicians, they are all making music to get paid, Jovi has he own income from Music and Pascal has his but i don’t get it how the same guy he called a Mentor keeps spitting in his own Food. Jovi has never claimed Pascal was a bad rapper. Again he has always giving him credit and endorsing his music. Question to you readers. Is that a positive or Negative thing on Pascal’s Music Career. We all knew Pascal from New Bell Music before now and if we purchase his songs and or booked him for shows because we all know how dope this guy is (Jovi told Us So). Well Pascal we don’t think Jovi is spitting in your success because Y’all maybe “Beefing”. If that is the case then maybe What he heard about what You said Maybe right. LOL (Part E & F).

Pascal insist he doesn’t want any fight with Jovi before the break the little relationship and mutual love they may have to each other now.

Again Pascal Continues His Rap

(L)

Forgive Me If Im Sounding Direspectful
But If You come for Me, Expect Me
I expect you to respect me the same Wey i respect you

The rapper apologizes again to Jovi if what he maybe sounding disrespectful. Well everybody has his ways of putting out information, and different people have their ways of picking it up and transforming it. Truth be told this is not a Diss track, I will say it is part of conversation between Pascal and Jovi and this time around Pascal is talking.

He goes on to say that If Jovi disses him and may be forced to diss back (Thats True). And that Jovi should respect him the same way he respects him (That is also True). Well Said Pascal but question people wanna know is who started this publicly. Because as far as some of us can remember Jovi has never released a diss song aiming at Pascal (Correct us if we are Wrong) but this is Pascal’s second song mentioning Jovi. Well Pascal has indirectly asked for mutual respect and understanding… that is good

Furthermore,

(M)

But Would rather be successful or look successful
I just wanna be successful
Looks alone are super stressful
Lord Save Me for this Temptation
Nyanga di Sleep Trouble Di Woke Up YI
Temptation
Fuck all these tweeter clarifications and verifications
Two Pikin For Sun Dem No Dey for This Generation
Na only One

He starts here by saying that he will rather prefere to be successful than looking successful.
He is asking God to save him from this temptation, yes the temptation Jovi is trying to pull Him in. He felt Jovi is setting traps for him to fall and diss him but He begs GOD to save him from this. Earliar today Jovi claimed he has cut the grass for snakes to show.. (now thats JAY Z on us)….

Conclusively Pascal rubbishes all clarifications and verification and that he remains the – Pikin 4 Sun in this generation. Here  he boldly tells Jovi he cannot be compared to whoever Jovi thinks is better than him (who knows TATA) and that he remains the one and only true heir (Pikin 4 Sun) to this generation. Is this a beef to Tata … Common guys these boys go way back Pascal can’t diss Tata.

NOW this whole situation raises an important conversation about feuding in Cameroon music industry. We’ve had so many artists feuding with each other as days goes by and fans transforming the whole scenario into plague and exaggerating the nature.

The question Goes Is Pascal Dissing His Mentor Jovi West On New track?

The Answer is No

Pascal some months back dropped a great EP – Pikin 4 Sun , but listeners got a big surprise when they got to the song “Follow The Light” and heard the former New Bell Music Rapper rapper appear to take aim at his mentor Jovi .

Pascal was part of Jovi’s New Bell Music for over a year before leaving in and signing with – Strange Kings, We Know everything was cool between him and Jovi, but the song may indicate otherwise and even more with – Devil Ney Di really Sleep.

If it really is aimed at Jovi in a beefing way as most put it, it would indicate that the relationship between the two has soured. Jovi was a big part of Pascal’s early success, promoting the rapper and appearing on a number of songs with him.
