Two Cameroonian Actresses Constance Ejuma and Sasha Morfaw star in the most anticipated Upcoming Hollywood Movie – The Black Panther –

Most people will acknowledge the fact that when it comes to Africans starring in Hollywood movies, Cameroon seldom makes the list. Most of the time you will see Nigerians, Ghanaians, and South Africans breaking international boundaries and winning major roles in Hollywood flicks; examples of such actors will include Djimou Housou (Benin), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Nigerian), David Oyelewo (Nigerian), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Nigerian), Idris Elba (Ghana), Boris Kodjoe (Ghana), Thandie Newton (Nigeria), Sophie Okonedo (Nigerian), Peter Mainsah (Ghana), Gugu Mbatha-raw (South Africa) and the list goes on and on.

Well, its time for Cameroon to shine as two young and talented Cameroonian actors; Constance Ejuma and Sasha Morfaw have broken records by featuring Hollywood’s most anticipated superhero flick – The Black Panther -. The film is an American superhero film based on Marvel Comics superhero character – The Black Panther

Constance Ejuma is an actress and producer, known for Ben & Ara (2015), Black Panther (2018), and The Zim (2017).

SASHA MORFAW

Sasha Morfaw is from North Carolina. Her family is originally from Cameroon, Africa.  She is known for Halt and Catch Fire (2017), Black Panther (2017), and TURN Washington’s Spies (2017).

Their names have appeared so far on the cast list on IMDb, a popular source for movie content, and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). They will feature alongside top Hollywood actors from Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. This makes it the first time a Cameroonian-born actor will feature in a Hollywood superhero movie.

Why is this film so important?

Black Panther is the first superhero of African descent in mainstream American comics, Black Panther comes at an incredibly volatile time in American history with regards to race relations. Between accusations of police brutality, disproportionate incarceration of African Americans, and even lack of representation within our cultural institutions bringing a black superhero to the big screen properly represents a major moment for the black community.
