Bongkiya Venagesho Lantum Bertilla popularly known by her stage name ” TILLA TAFARI ” a.k.a “godmother ” has come forth about being sexually abused as a little girl.
The beautiful and talented femcee has had a struggling career for as long as we can remember. She has finally given us reasons as to why all her decisions and choices over the years seemed to be governed by misfortune.
Tilla’s journey to the dark side all began when she lost her dad at the age of 6. The duo had a very close relationship and she explains that his death left her empty and confused. These negative emotions are what her uncle ” Victor Tambang ” used as a template, taking advantage of her fragility. Before she reached 13, she had been raped countless times by her uncle.
” Victor Tambang ” was a well-known and loved man and a very powerful politician at the time. So as a little girl, she explains she didn’t know how to go up against that. Her uncle only went to prison sometime later for embezzlement and is in prison to date.
And even then, she stayed silent in order to ” protect” her family.
Tilla goes on to describe the events that followed her as a little girl who suffered molest. She says the trauma she experienced and her inability to talk to anyone about it, not only made her toxic but also made her love toxic relationships.
All of these affected her career and with everything falling apart, she leaned to drugs for a way out but that only made things worse. She feared real love and was pushed away from the people who truly valued her.
All of these are reflected in her choice of men as she goes on to explain that her son’s father physically and emotionally abused her o7n countless bases. when she tried to leave the relationship, he beat her up and threatened to hurt himself by cutting his wrist with a blade. She was only rescued from him by some neighbors, she’s currently in her mother’s house with her son.
Today, Tilla announces her freedom, not only as an artist but also as a mother and a daughter. Through her post, she’s stated that she’s now on a journey to becoming whole and unto herself. To be everything her creator made her be. She says this is her time to shed off the skin of pain, to leave behind 20 years of depression and trauma, and embrace light which begins with speaking the truth.
In light of all this, we pray she finds her way and she has our full support and prayers. For everyone reading this, if you’re going through any sort of abuse, please talk to someone. You may not know or feel it, but more people care about you than you can imagine.
