Douala Grand Mall The Biggest Mall in Central Africa

The Douala Grand Mall is said to be the biggest mall in Central Africa because of its surface area of almost 18000 m2, it contains about 160 shops for commercial and leisure activities which constitute a new attraction for tourists and Cameroonians.

The Douala Grand Mall is a modern shopping center built by Craft Development in Douala, with funding from the IFC and Actis.

It was opened to the public on November 17, 2020, in Douala in the presence of “Mathurin Kamdem” (Craft Development), “Luc Demez(Director of CFAO Retail in Cameroon, a local partner of Carrefour and first to open in the mall)Roger Mbassa Ndine“; mayor of Douala III.

The man behind this investment is “MATHURIN KAMDEM“.Mathurin Kamdem is a Cameroonian project manager and promoter and CEO of DRCC(Douala Retail, and Convention Centre), he was entrusted with the construction from 2017 to 2020 of the Douala business park beside the Douala airport, and it included a hotel complex, the Douala Grand Mall, cinemas, … for a budget of 80 billion CFA francs.

The engineer “Mathurin Kamdem” decided to put his expertise at the service of his country and this will provide about 4500 jobs for Cameroonians. The project is still at 70%  but hopefully will be complete by the end of the year 2020 will inject about 30 billion in the economy through various equipment purchase and service payments.
