Critical Analysis of Witty Minstrel’s Forthcoming Project “The Untold African Stories”

You can agree with me that Africans and Africa as a whole have a lot of “untold stories”.  We are only aware of those which were passed from generation to generation. Witty Minstrel have decided to tell these untold stories with his sounds. The “Njang Hip-hop” artist, as he refers to his genre of symphony brought Cameroonians together with his “Be Proud” tune.

Witty Minstrel’s “Be Proud” has left a long-lasting legacy. Winning multiple awards as “Song of the year” and “Best Collaboration”. That been said, the entire public looks forward to this project as Witty Minstrel has successfully built a huge and dedicated fan base.

The 6 tracks and 2 bonus project “The Untold African Story” was executively produced by Witty Minstrel himself. With boasts production credits from the likes of Dijay Karl, Dijay Cliffand Marc Eff.

A critical analyst could look at Witty Minstrel’s “The Untold African Stories” from two sides.

Firstly, take a look at the project’s cover art. Do you see what I see? Definitely YES. Images has been used as a way of telling stories for as long as the medium has existed.  And could be interpreted in many ways. But let’s look at it this way; it shows how Africans were enslaved to the Wetern Culture. And only gained freedom by returning to their roots. The tracklist too is exceptionally beautiful. One thing worth noting are the titles of the songs and it’s meaning. From track one to six, one can easily identify a story line. He also did well in including two bonus track, that was generous of him.

Now let’s look at the second phase of how a critical analyst will look at this soon to be released project. Witty Minstrel has promised to give us some untold African stories. Nevertheless the track lists are stories we already know about. Maybe, just maybe he could have gotten more catchy titles. Secondly the bonus tracks. Don’t you think “Be Proud” should have been among the songs of his bonus track? Giving the fact that it was that song that brought him to the lamp light. And probably the only song selling him.

That been said and done, we are highly anticipating this piece of arts. Because “We PROUD of who we are”.
