The Cameroonian government through the Ministry of Health has banned the use of SHISHA (Hookah) in the country. The ban contained in a legal notice dated March 07, prohibits the importation, manufacture, advertising, sale, and use of shisha in Cameroon. This was after a ministerial deliberation supervised by the Minister of Health, Manaouda Malachi. There, it was concluded that the product is toxic and dangerous to the body.
Recently, World Health Organisation (WHO) in an advisory note to regulators revealed that smoking shisha posed grave health risks. As shisha smokers in a single session would inhale the smoke of 100 or more cigarettes.
Cameroon has joined other African countries to ban the smoking of water-pipe tobacco, popularly known as SHISHA (Hookah). The product has henceforth been banned from commercialization and consumption within the country, Cameroon. Therefore, anybody caught with it will face the law and punishment will be applied accordingly
