Cameroon: Paul Biya Urgently Reshuffles Top Military officials

Cameroon's head of state President Paul Biya makes an emergency reshuffling of the country's top military officials.

Yesterday August 30th 2023, one of Africa’s longest serving presidents, H.E President Paul Biya made an urgent reshuffling of some high ranking military officials at the defense ministry just one day after the coup in Cameroon’s neighbouring country Gabon. President Paul Biya’s changes pronouncement, will affect the defense ministry’s core administrative unit according to reports.

This comes just one day after the ongoing military coup in Cameroon’s neighbouring country Gabon, where Gabonese military has seized power and placed President Ali Bongo Ondimba under house arrest and some members of his cabinet arrested following Saturday’s altercated presidential elections.

President Paul Biya rose to power in 1982 after taking over from the late president Amadou Ahidjo and since then has remained in power till date, serving his 7th mandate as president of the Republic of Cameroon.

The question now is, is one of Africa’s longest serving presidents, President Paul Biya shakened by what is happening in Gabon and other African countries?
