Cameroon female national football team on Thursday were evicted by their Nigerian counterpart from advancing to the semifinals of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Super Falcons defeated the Indomitable Lionesses by a lone goal at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca, Morocco. Rashidat Ajibade scored via a stunning header in the 57th minute to hand victory to the defending champions.
Set up in a 3-5-2 system, the Lionesses kept the Super Falcons quiet in the first half though they had their work cut out in matching the Nigerians’ physicality.
With Thursday’s defeat, the Super Falcons have secured qualification for next year’s Women World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Nevertheless, the Indomitable Lionesses will have to get their grip for the World Cup qualification.
