The African Movie Academy (AMAA) has released the list of nominees ahead of the 2021 edition. The Africa Film Academy (organisers of the AMAA), announced the nominees for the 17th edition of the award ceremony yesterday.
The Africa Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA is presented annually to recognize excellence among professionals working in, or non-African professionals who have contributed to, the African film industry. Done every year since 2005 in Nigeria, the AMAA is considered the most prestigious awards in African cinema.
Among the 26 categories of the awards nominations, Cameroon was able to grap five places. The list consists Of 26 different categories for roles across the continent.
Lucie Memba Bois in the movie, “BURIED”, by Francois Ellong, bagged a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Faith Fidel, was on the other hand nominated for Best Young/Promising Actor, for her role in the movie “Where I Come From”.
Also, the Movie “BURIED” grabbed a nomination in the category Achievement in costume Design.
Likewise, “Where I Come From” also bagged a nomination for Achievement in Screenplay.
Last but not the least, the movie K.I.A.B by Eric Zoa & Oleksii Osyka got nominated for Best Film by an African living abroad.
It should be noted that the 2021 list of Nominees reflects the brilliance of filmmakers across the continent. The AMAA 2021 Gala and award is scheduled to hold on November 28, 2021, at the Marriot Hotel in Lagos.
