A Day Of Morning In Cameroon

For fours now people in the North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon have known no peace. The war that has been warring for these years has brought about so much misery; people now living in bushes, they have been high population movement within Cameroon and outside as well. As the internally displaced keep piling up in the Center and Littoral Regions life becomes more and more difficult and things become more expensive. Cameroon’s economy is slowly crashing with CDC which was the second employing sector after the Government is totally down. How do people now take care of themselves and their families when they are no more jobs.

So many lives have been lost in this war and still continue to be as we saw in the incidents which happen in MenkaPinyin were a bunch of youths were gun down by the military, and Ngarbuh were pregnant women and children where burnt alive.

Now seven months after the Ngarbuh massacre, Kumba town was painted red with the blood of children who only wanted to learn and become useful people to their society. These children lost their lives in a war they don’t even understand and I seriously doubt if anyone had explained to them what the war was all about.

A few days back the was a Press release from the Head of State Declaring the 31st of October 2020 as a national mourning day

Will a national mourning day suffice would calm down the tension, will it stop the war or is a short break before the storm. What comes after the day of mourning do we still go back to war or do we go to the negotiating table and find solutions or do we keep mourning our lost ones every day, so many unanswered questions. It is time to hit the stop button on the Anglophone Crisis.
